Isabel’s Art

Encouraged by those first formal lessons in Karachi, Pakistan, fifty-two years ago, Isabel Camacho Diamond continues to express herself creatively with figurative and abstract paintings and sculptures with found objects. These works reflect her involvement with various cultures and religious beliefs during her extended travels, supplemented with courses at Saddleback and Orange Coast colleges and the Laguna Beach Art School in California, at Stuttgart Academy of Art in Germany, and at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She most admires the masters of art in Mexico, Puerto Rico and Ecuador and the German expressionists.

In 1990 Isabel was selected as one of eight emerging Los Angeles area artists representing Latin American and African American heritage for the exhibit “L.A. Expressions: The Cultural Shift” at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She has also been honored with individual exhibits in Ventura, Las Vegas, Denver and Durango and a shared exhibit in Albuquerque. Examples of her works follow:
